Car key went through the wash
« on: 08 February 2013, 17:46 »
My mrs was hanging out the washing and found the key  :embarrassed:

Now it doesnt work. Is there any way of sorting this with out having to buy a new one and getting it coded or is that my only option?

Cheers

dry it n hope for the best really. it should still start the car as the transponder is in a plastic casing.
if it doesnt work after drying it, buy a new remote bit for it off the bay then reprogram it, i did mine yesterday as the remote had terrible range and was very tempermental. i used cag com to link it to the locking
i think i love you.....

As soon as got it out I put it in rice in the airing cupboard for the last wk. Tried it today and no joy. Can get into the car but can't try and start it as fitting a new inlet mani.

Ok nice will get a new remote bit then hunt someone down with vagcom.

Will finish all the bits then hopefully it will start.

Anyone in bedfordshire with vagcom??

it might hopefully just want a new remote bit then. a quick one to see if the immob chip is ok is put the ignition on so the lights come on, if the immobiliser light goes out all is gd!

Try a new batt (or have it tested) cos it being submerged in water could have shorted it out and buggared the cells
