Edition 35 Turbo replaced already?!
« on: 05 February 2013, 22:10 »
Hello again!

I recently had to take my car into get its turbo replaced with only 5500 miles on the clock.

The failure was due to it over boosting however not had a full report back from Volkswagen. Personally I think it was the waste gate jammed shut that caused it to over boost.

Has anyone else had turbo problems with their Mk6 GTI's?

MKVI GTI turbos are IHI turbos, the ED35 has a K04 turbo. Different animal altogether!

Not heard of many of these going, but if they do it is usually through lack of servicing, abuse or some support function to the turbo. The turbos themselves are quite strong in comparison to many other OEM turbos.
