Market value
« on: 05 February 2013, 17:14 »
We where pricing up insurance and a few companies automatically tell you the market value once you put the reg in. Ours is a 09 gti 5 door and they said its worth £13000.
Anyone else seen this recently ? Our best price is £350 so far …

I'm shopping around at the moment, my point is that that are telling me the market value where as you used to have to say how much its worth ?

That's just the way the cookie crumbles mate, I suspect that they will be tracking around bottom book value. Perhaps if you asked nicely EVO would tell you what it's worth?

I've noticed that. I think that since the value you used to type in was ignored in the went of a claim, they now go for the book value. As technology advances, they're able to pull the value from their databases instantly. At least this way, you can compare like for like more easily.

I must be being stiffed big time when it comes to Insurance and I don't know why.

I'm 41, NCD of 5 years with no points and I pay over £600 with a mapped GTI!!!

Cheeky bar steward! 9 years ncd no points and putting my slightly older wife on the policy seemed to help too?

We pay similar for a modded car, although the policy is in my wife's name as main driver and she did have an own fault claim a couple of years ago.
