Happiness.

Whenever I have been in a job I don't like I have been the most miserable b'stard known to man, I tended to get really depressed too.

My mantra is that if you're in a job where you can't face going to work in the morning, you're in the wrong job and need to find a new one.

Keeping schtum. Mostly.

Happiness is the way to go, IF you can find it. I earn a decent salary where I am now and am lucky to still get a pay rise once a year, I'm happy enough and there are some changes coming at work which could mean more stress & responsibility - but I'm looking forward to the changes! I could earn a lot more else where but that would mean being unhappy & a lot more commuting - not what I want to be doing.

My mantra is that if you're in a job where you can't face going to work in the morning, you're in the wrong job and need to find a new one.

Precisely what I did ! My work at TNT / CEVA was killing me, it was time to find a new job or quit. I got a new job, luckily!

I earn good money, cycle to work, and enjoy it (Sometimes!). I do hate the company I work for though , but I can't afford to move jobs, so its a bit of a compromise tbh. I amounted a fair bit of debt on a loan and credit card for my wedding, which I'm paying through the nose for now each month. That won't be paid off for a good 3/4 years yet, so although I have everything mentioned in the first sentence, I still have no money for holidays abroad or anything too extravagant tbh. (Although I WILL be getting a Corrado VR6 in a couple of months!

I've been told that my job (along with the entire department) in moving to Ireland at the end of June.  They're offering a retention bonus if we stay until then, and have said they plan to place all of us in new jobs within the company.  However they have also issued us with a letter stating that our jobs could be at risk of redundancy, to cover their backs.  Problem is we won't really get a choice as to what our new job is.  We either take it, or we have to leave and they have no obligation to pay redundancy because they offered is an alternative job role.

So at the moment I'm trying to decide what is best.  As the other half works part time she earns practically nothing.  I'm not on a great salary either, but earn more than most in my profession at the level I'm at (bottom rung of the ladder).  I'm currently leaning toward staying, taking the bonus and risking the new job, knowing I could absolutley hate it.  If it's really bad I'll just have to look externally.

Fooking hell slick, you got a spay cam in my cleaning bay  cos this very discussion was had this avo.

my job would be fine if it wasnt for the people I work for

The wages are VERY good for what I actually - and other similar jobs in the area.

My commute is a complete ar$e - 50 miles - 2 hours a day total.

I am not happy and have found myself at an all time low recently, but I put this down to a combination of the commute and working for clusterfcuks at times.

So hopefully moving closer to work will at least help out a bit and I might have a life again

i hear ya mate, i think that an enjoyable job is all do to with who you work with. my ambition is to make a living from playing in my band eventually, which will be an awesome 'job' (when we break..). however I'd rather do a crappy job with someone that I connected with than sat in a recording studio writing songs for 10 hours a day with complete arssholes!

I commute 100 miles a day which takes between 2-3 hours a day. It's even worse that I work for a national company with stores ALOT closer. A new place has opened that is about 5 miles from where I live.

I'm looking elsewhere at the moment but can't afford a big pay cut.
