I've used all sorts of makes of tyres on my Golfs and for normal road use and all have been pretty decent except the Dunlop Sportmaxx GT's which were okay in the dry bit rubbish in the wet.

Michelin PS3
Goodyear Eagle Assym 2's

The new Pirellis are also getting some good reviews.

Here is a good read for you

http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/2012-EVO-Max-Performance-Tyre-Test.htm

I'm rocking these, it's a excellent tyre....

Same here.
F1 As on the Mk6 GTI and F1 A2s on the Mk5 GT TDI170.
Brilliant tyres...good wet and dry grip, not too noisy and superb wear rates...unlike those SportMaxx GT things which had abysmal wear rates.!

Reducing my Golf count by the week....
..but gaining motorcycles.

5 years later and Im still running Goodyear Eagle F1 (obviously not the same ones).

Currently on a set of Assym 2s and cant fault them (apart from in the snow, but  . . . well  . . . they aren't exactly designed for that).
