New UP for the Mrs
« on: 02 February 2013, 22:45 »
As most of you know i vowed that i would never set foot in my local VW JCT600 dealers again !!
So this morning we jumped in the GTi and went to the next nearest dealer (non jct) which turned out to be Marshalls of Grimsby,
1st impressions are good very helpful and knowledgable and not pushy at all, so 3 cups of coffee later and a test drive in the beast, a 1 litre, 3 cylinder, 75bhp, million mile to the gallon, £20 a year road tax Monster
I was very surprised at the quality and finish for such a cheap car, it feels a lot more expensive than what it is,
So deposit down for a Tornado red, High UP model and delivery for the 1st of March,
er indoors is well chuffed,  i may even get a bit of the old wizards sleeve tonight

I quite like the look of the UP! myself.
My long suffering daily driver Ibiza GTI is getting on a bit now and the Bilstein/Eibach suspension is getting on my tits these days so am thinking about either an UP or Fiat 500 for my Mrs so that my 17 year old son can go on the insurance. There's no way anyone will touch him with the Ibiza or Golf GTIs as both have 2.0 engines.

Our neighbours recently bought an Up! and they are chuffed to bits with it, great little car if cheap motoring drives your decision making.

Went for the High Up model in Tornado Red which has got a pretty impresive standard equipment for a little car, A Few of the below are options that were already on the car as it is Built and at Emden docks, but most are standard
approx 65mpg, £20 RFL & group E2 Ins

Body Coloured Dash, Mirrors, Bumpers   Air conditioning  Electric mirrors  Heated mirrors  Chrome Trims  Leather Trimmed Steering Wheel  Handbrake & Gear Knob,  Electric windows front  Seat height adjustment  Power Steering  adjustment rake  Heated Seats   MP3/iPod Connection  MP3 CD Player, RDS   15"Alloys   Front Foglights  Satellite navigation  Split/fold rear seats   Bluetooth    Passenger airbag   Side airbags  ABS   Driver's airbag Belt pretensioners   Isofix  Side Impact Bars Traction control  Rear Parking Sensor  ESP  Immobiliser  Central locking   Remote locking  Locking Wheel nuts  Visible VIN

Prob a few more missing off there, but for that sort of spec 2.8k deposit and £106.00 pcm it was a no brainer for me as the wifes current car, a Cooper S is on a 02 plate and costs a fortune to keep it on the road in tax, fuel, insurance, maintainance.

Plus gives me a few brownie points     as i have booked another trip away to Ring n Spa with the lads and it falls on Easter weekend, Will drop that one on her after she has picked her new car up,

I think the Fox is an ugly and dated looking thing

After driving one yesterday i was really surprised how nippy and refined it was, great little car for your wife and son to run about in

Sounds good Neil. A white one near me always looks a tidy little car.

Did you buy it on PCP?  My good ladies 02 Honda Civic might need to go this year and we had looked at a Polo for around £190pcm.

Yes the base models start at around £70pcm
It makes you wonder why so many of us run about in older run abouts with these sort of offers on ?

Agreed. Especially when you start looking at MOTs / Service costs - can you get a service pack with it - the 3 years for £299 or whatever it was?

Good choice Neil.

If SWMBO was getting a change of car the UP would be her first choice. Lovely little car and deceptively spacious, they should have called it the TARDIS.
