Here's a few of my favorite pics I took on the day:

To my eye things like this are full of win:

And this:

But there are some very ordinary shots in there.  £10 says the interesting ones are where you're getting down on your knees and such-like.

Find your unique view and you'll find more interesting shots, like those above.

^ Agreed.

But I also like this:

Great Depth of Field and the light coming over the bonnet in the top left corner make it.

and this:

Although I would like it better if a) the rear wheel wasn't cut off, b) you cropped out the car in the left corner and c) perhaps have waited till the people had moved.

This is one impressive engine bay, but you could do with having a wider shot to show all of the bay.

Otherwise good shots, you're getting better.

I was thinking when going through all my pics of day of how many were the same angle, same shot. BORING. I do try to get those different shots, just getting used to it. I am starting to think more of what is in the shot, lighting (and where it is coming from) and placing the subject in the right place inside the frame.

I find I learn a lot from looking through the pics I took on the day and seeing how each shot could be improved. The critism above has been taken in, thanks :afro:

I had the 50mm out most of the day, as the 28mm M42 prime I bought (first day using it), was tricky to use and I couldn't get good shots with it.

The engine and bay in the Caddy is insane but was usually crowded and that was as good as it got on the day :D It was up for Mk1 of the Year, not sure if it won. Nice bloke too :)

You've jumped right in with lenses
A 50mm will be great, you just need to zoom with your feet.
Working with a full manual lens will be a challenge, it'll make you think more about your settings. But it'll get better with practice.
Maybe you should try using your 50mm (auto focus) lens with the camera in full manual mode, so that you get used to working out what your aperture/shutter speed/ISO need to be. Then once you're more confident with the way the exposure triangle works, you can apply that to the 28mm manual lens.

I have only used the camera in full manual so far. The 28mm seems near impossible to get a nice sharp picture. Although I suspect there will be times where it would be a nice a lens to use.

Got a 35mm prime to play with now, again M42 fitment. Shot a little round the house and I love it so can't wait to get out with it.
