Indicator Stalk Woes
« on: 28 January 2013, 22:33 »
I've finally had a go at sorting out my non-indicating indicator stalk after 4 months of driving around. I've put up with holding the indicator on for too long

I've taken the steering wheel off, the plate that sits on the front of the stalk, and the stalk itself. After finding out the new switch that I was sent is the wrong one (even after being VERY specific about which type I required ), I cleaned up the old one and did a bit of jimmying, and it's decided to work.

The problem I'm facing is that I can't get the stalk securing plate to sit flush. Two of the three clips snap on but the third, next to the full beam spring, simply will not locate. Is there a knack to it, or is something buggered?

Pics to follow. Sorry if it's a bit long winded (that's how I am )

Thanks

This is the bit that won't sit flush with the rest:

It seems to hit this bit, and won't go any further. The screw that came out won't even reach this bit anymore, so where the hell has it come from?

The rest of the pictures are on here, just in case I've missed something: http://s1141.beta.photobucket.com/user/hfg88/library/
