Lambda sensor query with video
« on: 28 January 2013, 21:50 »
got the 16514 code bk again  ( Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor B1 S1: Malfunction in Circuit)

tested heater circuit pins 1 + 2 (2 white wires) resistance was around 3.5- 5 ohms ish , not the best of meters but proves it aint an open circuit.

tested pins 3 + 4 (black + grey, signal + ground) and this was open circuit.
am i right in thinking that this may not mean anything as its basically a switch or should i still obtain a resistance of some kind.
test was done unplugged

I have the same same fault code, I'm quite hesitant at buying a new sensor at £140 i case it doesn't resolve the issue :undecided:

Let us know how you get on

thinking possible vacuum leak tbh, gona give it a good going over with carb cleaner tomoz but gona change the sensor to rule it out. well hopefully lol.

o2 sensor for my AGU from ECP is bout £35 with discount, doesnt have a pic to see wether its plug n play or a scotchlok job.

You can always test to see if the sensor is working properly. If you pull it out and heat it with a blow torch you will see a voltage across the sensor once it's up to temperture. Once it's up to temp you can pull the blowtorch away and the voltage should drop. By putting the torch back over the sensor you will see the voltage rise again. It should show ~1v with no oxygen and ~0v in atmosphere. I think I have that the right way round voltage wise ;)

thanks for the advice m8, not long changed the sensor and the fault codes away for now (touch wood)

still some issues tho, engine idle changes now and again as if its recieved a gulp of air if you get me.
made a video, soz for poor audio quality but if you listen around the 3, 24 and 45 second mark you will hear the difference, still think iv an air leak somewr in the inlet as its an AUM manifold (i know the ports will be smaller). hopefully get the proper manifold in tomoz.
