Retro fitting bluetooth
« on: 28 January 2013, 20:56 »
Hi,

I've just bought a GTD to replace my bluemotion passat, and wish to add bluetooth -I've read p3eps's brilliant guide to installing, and aside from the VAGCOM bit I'm happy that I could do it myself.

I do however have a few questions that I'm hoping you guys can help me with - I've done a search of the forums but still not certain so didn't want to make a purchase yet!

I'm looking at getting a kit off ebay based around the 5K0035730D module, so my questions are:-
  • Is this module A2DP and iPhone compatible?
  • In p3eps's guide, he is installing a FISCON mic - is there any difference in the thickness of the cable for this VW kit that could make this harder to install/impossible? - i.e. running it through the headlining and down the A pillar
  • Is the 5K0035730D an ok size to mount behind my RCD510?
Thanks for your help guys.

John

Welcome  the mic wire on the VW bluetooth kit is very thin like a single speaker wire and is just the same to thread through from behind the head unit, the module itself will sit comfortably behind the RCD 510 and looking at that part number on ebay it says it should work with the iphone and is A2DP compatable. :afro:
