How dodgy is this?
« on: 28 January 2013, 16:09 »
I just got a call from a Nigerian lad I used to work with, he said how one of his mates got his car impounded due to having too many points on his license and being banned.

The car is impounded just round the corner from me, and they need someone with a valid license and insurance to get the car out of the impound lot, so he asked if I would mind being put on the insurance for a day, getting the car out of the lot then letting the banned chap drive back home in the car, despite him not having a license.

This sounded dodgy as f**k to me, and I know it's illegal to let someone without insurance drive your own car.
So if I do agree to help them out, would I be doing something illegal?

Nothing illegal on your part as they need insurance and a valid lisence (which you have) to release the car.

Illegal when he drives it but thats his problem from there. I wouldnt bother helping or go out my way because he could end up crashing and causing someone else a lot of misery.

If he lives close then park the car up for him but I bet he will drive it anyway.

Get the car out - give it him back - ring polis reporting an unlicensed driver !

Oh and aiding and abetting is an offence !

Knowingly giving an unlicensed driver a car . . .  .

I'm surprised you really needed to ask! You know those little codes for motoring offences such as SP30, IN10 etc? Well they can be changed slightlyby adding a "4" to give SP34, IN14 etc. These indicate the aiding and abetting of an offence.

Leave it well alone - he's a prize pillock.  :nerd:
