ive got a battery conditioner but i cant open the bonnet in my garage so cannot leave it on on the garage. i can only charge it on the drive

also i dont think 2 weeks is a long time to leave a car standing. been offshore 10 years nearly and never had an issue leaving cars standing for a few weeks before.

mkviken, I agree, 2 weeks isn't a long time, but 3 weeks is 50% longer and if your battery is not fully charged when you leave it, it won't last as long [Especially in cold weather]. Also if he was opening the doors and boot etc it all adds to the drain.

This winter the car has been in the garage again, but this year hooked up to a battery conditioner. All has been fine.

The Mk2 is also garaged. I've just taken the leads off the battery on that one and every time I've connected them back up to start it, it's fired straight away. Take the battery off the Mk6 and you get a multitude of beeps, bongs and warning lights the first time you start that. A quick spin down the road sorts all that out, but it kind of defeats the object of keeping it off the sh1ty roads during winter.

Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Ken, I have left mine 2 months in winter without issue in my garage. After 3 months the voltage dropped and it started to turn things off.
Infact i have only just put the battery charger/conditioner on the mk6 the other day and its not been used since early December, battery voltage was still at 12.6V this time.

But if your regular moving it in and out that will reduce the battery alot as it takes alot out of a battery to start a car.

I do the same with the Mk1.

I agree if its moved in and out the a garage etc before charging it or taking I for a drive that would be a big drain on the battery but I washed it, dried it, charged the battery then out it to bed. It started no bother at all and everything worked just started this random beeping.

I know it's been cold but its been in the garage so it can't have been that cold in there.
