Unfortunately I had an accident yesterday and I need some advice since I believe it was due to incorrect sign posting.
I regularly drive down a residential road that has a road running across it. The direction I go in has always had right of way, well up until 2 days ago when the road markings were changed.
I found that the give way lines were moved to my road from the crossroad but not the give way sign posts. The signposts have been bagged up for the crossroad but they havent put up new signposts in my direction. There were no signposts making people aware of the change.
I think this is due to the council not completing the road change completely and not making people aware.
Can anyone confirm if it is a legal requirement to have the signpost as well as road markings since there used to be both in the other direction. Can I get the council to admit fault and who would I have to contact to make a complaint?
Also, I don't need my insurance company to fix my car I can do that myself. Would I still have to pay excess? I don't want to make a claim but I assume the other party is going to. Will I lose my NCB?
