NHS is a fantastic service.

Taken for granted until you need it. Yesterday at my brothers house a friend fell down the stairs and was in serious pain.

First aider there suggested the ambulance. Ring them and no word of a lie within 3 minutes, as someone went to open the front door to wait outside for them, they were there.

Anyone in he ambulance service on here, thanks.

Well yes it's their job to be there as soon as possible.

I've heard plenty of stories of them not rescuing people because of "elf & safety", and of people having to drive themselves injured because the ambulance either refused to come out because it wasn't enough to vouch for it or because it was taking too long.

What a joke!!! NHS are a laughing stock in Leicester... Just before Christmas, elderly Gent came to pick up his car from the garage, unfortunately he manage to trip on the kerb, and land face and palms down, badly cut, and pouring with blood, an ambulance was called immediately, and in the meantime, 3 of us attended to his injuries and got the bleeding under control...
20 mins passed, the Ambulance still hadn't arrived, A&E is 3 miles away, so should have been at the scene within 5 to 10mins
An hour passed, still no Ambulance... at least 3 calls and 4 1/2 hours later, still no show... the Ambulance never showed that day, the poor old man was taken home by his distraught wife, not too sure what happened after that..
Pray that you never fall ill, or are injured in Leicester! the NHS are a sham, run by the most incompetent, inefficient staff that I have ever known in my life!

We had to wait nearly an hour when my partner had a fall, broke her ankle & dislocated her other. She had lay on the ground in the pouring rain as they told us not to move her

Nhs are a bunch of jokers.

I went to a&e with abdominal pains. Got seen to within 20 minutes by a junior doctor and kept there from 9am to 6pm. They took loads of blood and I was told that I was developing jaundice and that there was some abnormality with my liver. They didn't seem to know what was wrong with me so sent me home with 20 tramadol pain killers whilst they wait for more test results to get back.

12 days later I get a call from the hospital's admissions department asking if I was eligible for treatment from the nhs. I said I was born and raised in the uk and that I have a full time job. They said to bring in some form of id (passport or driving licence) when you see the consultant. I asked when the appointment with the consultant will be as I didn't know at the time. The person informed me the consultant can see you in 5 weeks time.

I wanted to go through the nhs just to prove to all my friends (who told me to go private through work) that despite the negative press the nhs is still brilliant. Alas I was to be proved wrong.

I went to my gp for a referral letter (you can get this at a&e too) on Monday.

Got the referral letter on Wednesday.

Phoned Bupa and got an appointment on Friday. Was told that my jaundice was serious and could be life threatening (it had been 2 weeks since my visit to a&e by this stage) and I was rushed to one of the Bupa hospitals immediately. The consultant diagnosed the problem in seconds and I had an ultrasound to confirm his diagnosis during that Friday appointment.

Compared to places like India the nhs is fantastic but compared to Bupa it's crap

Quite aware mate, unfortunately both have to be tarred with the same brush... My Mum lives North York Moors, and gets a far better all round service from Middlesborough
