Hi all, just bought my first mk3 golf gti 16v..
« on: 25 January 2013, 17:56 »
... And i'm amazed at how nice it is to drive   I used to own a mk4 gti turbo but this mk3 just seems better in every way

Heres a link to the ebay add of the car i bought see what you think :

Clicky

The add just didn't do the car justice. Arrived at the sellers house this morning to see a SUPER clean car waiting for me  bodywork looks almost perfect and the interior looks like it's just come out the showroom so it was smiles all round from me.
Then he took me inside to do the paperwork and told me about the service history which wasn't mentioned in the listing. It has every old mot from new,all original documents in the original vw leather wallet and a service book fully stamped along with LOADS of reciepts from main vw dealers for every little job it's ever needed

So i'm really happy right now...

Couple of things needing done to it but nothing major. Non of the electric windows work and it needs a wheel bearing on the front passenger side but all in all for £390 it's an absolute bargain (imo anyway lol)

So what do ya reckon then

Thanks
Dave

I know how to post links but it was easier to just post a link to the ebay add :)  (lazy)

I'll have to pay a garage to do the bearing  (damn snow) but it really does need done quick.

Cheers
Dave

Looks like a good buy for the money.  Once you've got your bearing and windows sorted id personally turn my attention immediately to losing the cone air filter and changing the wheels.

I'm not too keen on the wheels but the noise of the cone filter is great

Just had a bit of a nightmare with the windows  pressed the down on the back window and it went down, great i thought but now it won't go back up lol
Tried to take the switches out on the dash and the button come off sending tiny springs everywhere (lost 2 of them) so i've had to tape a bag over the door to stop the seats getting soaked

Don't suppose anyone has a wiring diagram for the windows ? (found a couple of links but there dead)

Thanks
Dave

Could have been dodgy wiring in the rubber gaitor in the door by the hinges.

That's the first thing i checked on the back door but wires look good although theres a good chance thats the problem with the fronts. There's a few electrical niggles with the car though so not sure where to start.
The ignition switch must be iffy because he's fitted a push button on the dash to start the car.Not sure if that could affect the windows but it's gonna need sorted either way, i'll have to spend the day messing about with it tomorow and hope for the best...

I had to expect something to be wrong considering the price of it
