which new phone?
« on: 21 January 2013, 23:26 »
hi all,
i need help, being a women i am totally clueless with technology and totally overwhelmed trying to choose a new phone!!

i currently have the Iphone 3GS, i like it, the apps amuse me at times when im bored and most have been free, its easy to use, Ive dropped it a few times and its good as new. The issues ive had is that it freezes quite often, its started messing about not making any sound when it rings or when i ring out, i also feel like im kind of wasting it, im not really a music fan and feel like with me ignoring the itunes and music store and stuff im not using half of the phones capabilities. The Iphone also annoys me because its videos are formatted for Quicktime and I like to make silly little videos on MovieMaker and these file formats are not supported- yes i can convert it but sometimes if ive had the phone tilted one way or the other it will get distorted so not great.

I want to get a free handset on a contract. I mostly use my phone for going on Facebook, Ebay and using the internet. I dont actually make that many calls! Im not too fussed about a touch screen, in fact the Iphone often annoys me when it choses the wrong letter when im texting.
I wanted a camera with a flash to use when im on a night out and i like to take videos too.
Wanting something fairly new and I havnt a clue which models are the newest etc! lol.

Im happy to stick with an Iphone its just the Iphone 5 contracts are quite pricey and the screens crack quite easily so i wanted to see if theres anything else out there that fits the bill?

Thanks for any help

Sounds like just about any smartphone will do what you want.

I'd recommend going in store, having a play with as many phones as you can stomach, then have a look on MSM for a deal:

Once you've found a good deal on any of the phones you liked, call your mobile network operator and get them to price match (saves the hassle of porting to another network operator)

My Galaxy S3 records video in MP4 format, the software that comes with Samsung devices, called Kies, converts the format - to what I'm not sure as I don't use Kies, but I've seen others talk about it.

nexus 4 when they get back in stock! awesome phone for the money.

Buy from google and get a sim only contract is the most cost effective. But can get them free on contracts

^ Good shout, but the lack of MicroSD card would annoy the crap out of me.
