car wont start even with jack plugs.
« on: 21 January 2013, 15:13 »
car started ok yesturday, then today its as if the battery is just on the way out at first sounded like it was going to turn over, then just got worse and worse untill it sounded like it couldnt be bothered anymore.

tried to jack start it but still nothing how ever it does sound a little bit better engine wise but still no turn over. do you think a new battery would do the trick or waste of money??

i did spray carb spray in the carburetor yesturday but this couldnt of broke anything could it?

wouldn't think carb cleaner will affect it.

With a jump start does the engine turn over freely? did you jump from another battery or a running car.

from a running car and did nothing. what would happen if iv flooded the engine? I'm pretty sure its the battery as when I have head lights on and try turn the car over the head lights just turn off.

probaly find the jump leads were crap, leave the cars connected together for a fw mins  so your battery can gain some charge if its not completly fubared it should go.

had to make meyself a pair of jump leads as i need them quite a lot work wise and kept on melting shop bought ones
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

make sure the battery has charge in it then get a mate to give the starter a few taps as you try starting it, if i just ticks is fecked, i get one from a scrapper for your car, i just took one off an abf to fit on a g60 and ive used one off a cl for a gti. or look for somewhere that does exchange.
