Just before christmas my golf was running 100% looking 100% everything was going too well!
THEN!.. went out to go to the shops and found 3" of water in my footwell behind driver seat... oh dear! SOO.. went about trying to find the leak and using an old towel got most of water out of car. After about a week of trying to find a leak i was driving to a freinds to take out carpets and have a good look WHEN... my engine management light flashed on and off then heavy white smoke started coming from under my bonnet...
I pulled over and opened bonnet to find heavy white smoke coming from under my rocker cover.. in shock i pulled it off breaking the clips.. then seen my coilpack bubbling and smoking so i pulled off the plastic vaccum reservoir and the metal holder for it which sits above coilpack4.. And yanked the coilpack out!
Totally gutted i was towed to a garage where i asked the mechanic to sort the leak and the coilpack issue..
The mechanic called me about a week later saying it would take a while to be sorted and cost ruffly £1000 for a new ECU.. i searched and asked questions on this site with ALOT of help and answers. I went to the garage and took my car to my freinds yard where i put the car into a garage there..
The car was left that night BUT the next day i arrived at my car to find that the mechanic that had looked at it whilst removing the scuttle panel had CRACKED my windscreen!! guuuttteeeddd

But never letting anything get me down i went about searching

and asking more questions i found the issue with the leak.. The previous owner had put the boost gauge pipes through the bulkhead where the accelerator goes using a knife on the plastic gromit and not sealing the gromit ATALL letting in water...
Then i sorted the engine!! Got a good freind to replace the "relay" from the coilpacks to the ecu... car runs perfect!

(had to re-wire the coilpack connector as it was melted along with coilpack.. Also during this nightmare my oil check light has been flashing at me.. the mechanic was wanting to buy a new bonnet catch... After i got in about it myself and some help from this forum, i found that the sensor was unplugged just behind the driver headlight!! WHY? who knows? so plugged it back in and the light went out!

THENN had to drive down to tuner to get my "Revo-stage-2" map re-tuned!
I have also been leaving my car running with all heaters on FULL and putting newspaper on the carpets with jumping about on the paper to pick up more water ha! The car was fully dry today and i gave the car a proper clean as it was covered in oil and grubby marks and whilst i was cleaning my freind fitted a brand new window!

Soooo.. ALOT of time and hassle later and a wee bit of cash. Im back where i was before christmas haha
Just letting everyone know that us golf owners DONT have it too easy

Also thanks for the help folks
