  • R-tech power!!!
I'd have to disagree with Dom in a big way I'm afraid.

I had my AUM mapped to st1 by R-tech, where it made 206bhp with just a forge DV and a jetex filter.

I fitted a 3'' downpipe and decat, leading into a tdi centre section (no silencer) with the standard backbox.

The car made 224bhp on the dyno after fitting the downpipe. The stock downpipe is SO restrictive it's unreal, there are fantastic gains to be had just be changing the downpipe.

Several R-tech tuned cars have made 230bhp with the standard backbox. A chap on SSS was running 360bhp through the standard backbox on his leon cupra!

So its worth still using the original backbox then... Whats the sound difference like with just the standard backbox?

Yes well worth it.

Sound is OK to be fair, kind of makes a more raspy tone, and a funny wooshing ripping noise on boost. I kinda liked it!
