I've never owned much vinyl to be honest, but I really do appreciate (sometimes in a nostaglic sense) the older media and formats of the past.

Whilst we're on the subject, has anyone else noticed that with hifi systems, old speakers sound much better?

Yes and no. The sound warmer but not always clearer particularly the low end frequencies. Like my B&W ones but suppose they are classed as old at 12yrs? Older Mission ones were nice but lacked clarity in the bottom end. Kinda muffled.

I've got a pair of B&Ws which will be 14 years old, but I've been thinking of older. They are floor standers, with a nice warm sound, heavy on the bottom end, but not to the degree where you're left with the feeling or want for something better timed and clearer sounding.

Older Missions were epic. The newer ones with smaller drivers had better timing and clarity, but became very soft on the bottom end.

My uncle has a pair of those. Talk about American crap, about as well timed as the train service and as clear as listening to your mobile phone in a poor reception area, in a gale.

I still always like to buy a CD rather than downloading. Costs roughly the same and its yours to keep. Downloading never feels the same to me.

I used to go to HMV all the time years ago. But now I tend to do all my shopping online apart from food. Can't be bothered to walk round the shops anymore. Most shop assistants are poorly trained and have bad attitudes. I can see how HMV has gone bust.
