I liked HMV. Shame as now there's nowhere I can think of to actually have a browse now.

online... like everyone else?

No, that's not browsing and that's what killed it.

I want to see the cd's, glance across music that I wasn't looking for.

I like to hold the CD, own the CD.

Copy it to CD?

If your really fancy, find the covers and print them too ;)

That's not the same and you know it. Especially as home cd copying is laser burnt and proper ones are pressed.

Why we talking about CDs? Now vinyl yes, massive difference and actually something physical to show for your money...CDs are still just 1-0s

iTunes will never look this good or be as tactile  :

Granted it is easier to store and get in the car or out and about though

I guess it was only time until this happened as let's be apple are a giant and manhandle everything in their path.... I do agree though, there was always something nice about going to buy physical cd's...I'm a massive music person ...

Scenario for you here .

I would used to spend hours going through my parents cd's when I was small, anything from queen to maiden to pink floyd...the collection was impressive and ill always remember the way it influenced me when I was growing up and also the fact that the collection was massive!

Now if this happens to me it will be something like this.... "Here you go son! Take a look through my 2 Tb flash stick! There's lots if music on there... I imagine that wouldn't have the same affect lol

Seeing a huge physical collection of records and searching through is an experience you just can't get with downloading media.

Lets not forgot the fact vinyl sounds a hundred times better than an over compressed mp3 file.

Vinyl was much more fun too.

As you could select your turn table, select your tone arm, select your stylus cartridge, select your tone arm weights.

Those days simply rocked.

what you on about...3x Technic 1200s 2 mixers, huge record collection and SERATO SSL. Still enjoy dropping stuff, and have old Stanton cartridges, Shure And also Ortofon. All produce difference warmth or crispness and moreover I can look and find what I want and the part I want. And yes vinyl is better than mp3.
