Recommend me a compressor please?

Hi,
I have limited knowlege with compressors and we are in need of one for use with air tools and spray gun on occasion also. It is not a work environment just for use in family garage, any brands I should stick to? minimum spec? post links up if you can please?

what tools and how much spraying ?

air compressors generay need to be bigger that you ever thought.

personaly i would say a minumum of a 3hp belt drive with 100 ltr tank.  for DIY no need to spend mega money if you get pissed off waiting for it just buy another and run them in tandom

impact wrench, ratchet, grinder, tyre inflator etc, spray gun would use if need bumper/spoilers painting etc

Make sure you get a water trap and regulator/filter for spraying.

3HP 100 ltr tank  belt drive ( minumum ) but i wouldn't bother getting anything bigger as 3hp is the biggest common;y avalible on singel phase  and  a bigger tank just gives a bit more puff for a bit but takes longe to get it's breath back.

i prefer belt drive as quieter and last longer   but if you can put up with the noise and not useing it all the time that should be fine

would think so,  anything belt driven will be longer lived and quieter 

on that one the cfm is down a bit but it'll do higer pressure,  you'll ony really need 8 bar but the 10 bar max pressure will mean you get more air in the tank for blasts on nut cracking with the air inpacter. there is no real right or wrong choice
as with compressors you get what you pay for and  you'll allways want a bigger compressor.
   
 with the smaller diy compressors is allways a gambel to a point when it comes to picking the best of a group of offerings  some manufactures  are more optomistic with there figures than others and there all bought in and badged so chould be made anywhere unless your looking at the bir or once big names like ingersol rand, compair, broom wade but they are a lot more cash.
