So when the engine cover on the ed35 says TSI, thats actually incorrect and should say TFSI? Or is a weight saving exercise by dropping one letter....

Let's call it a marketing exercise!  :lipsrsealed:

Reducing my Golf count by the week....
..but gaining motorcycles.

More than likely! It can lead to a bit of confusion with the TSI 'Twincharged' variant on the 1.4.

The IHI turbo is smaller than the 'KO3S' but the TSI head flows better.

If you go onto the MK6 international forum there are loads of ko4 tuned MK6 GTI's running 350 + hp.

The TSI is supposedly cheaper to build as well, but I cant verify this.

So the engine is stronger, however VW need to do some serious work on everything attached to it on the mark 7. Far to many problems with water pumps and oil leaks.

Water pump
Crankcase ventilation system design
Diverter valve
Timing chain tensioner
Turbo
Alarm siren
Coil packs
DSG mecatronics unit
Dual mass flywheel

And that's just the ones I can think of at 5 in the morning lol.

I bet most are not as they did not sort alot of the mk5 issues with the mk6.
Im beginning to think VW has no real engineers anymore and only accountants and marketing men.
I can deal with most of the issues but the chain tensioner scares the crap out of me as its a new engine if it goes.
Im glad they have dropped the 1.4 TSI as its a disaster in engineering terms but then again, other models they do have had issues with Turbos and DPFs.
Mind there not the only ones BMW have had issues with timing chain tensioners on the mini as well as power steering issues, and also HPFP on the 1 series.
Other makes too have issues the Nissan GTRgearbox is a ticking timebomb waiting to happen, so most are the same nowadays its a throw away white good culture.
