17's on a mk4
« on: 10 January 2013, 00:17 »
do 17's look too small on a mk4 golf bbs lm's are my wheel of choice and seen a set for sale but they are 17's and not the usual 18's people go for, i have coilovers as well to go on so what size tyres would people recommend.

thanks

Personally i think 18's look best on a IV but 17's look perfectly fine on low golf i have some 17" TT Comps and lowered a little (nowhere near as low as i would like but cant with the roads i go on and it being my daily) and some times they look good other times look to small.

but thats just me, its a bit down to personal preference i think.

Yep - exactly what he said. Personal preference i guess. I would go for 18's personally but that's me. do you plan on having it low?

Cheers for the advice guys i would prefer 18s but i want bbs wheels and i think these are a steal at 150 without tyres although they are replicas, i thought it was a bit of a bargain. I was gonna lower it about 60-80 mm. Cant find alot of pics even on google of 17s on a mk4

to be honest mate 17's look good if you are lowering a lot but you have to have low profile tyres or a nice bit of stretch, but 18's do suit very well

I have got 17" bbs lms (reps) and because of the polished lip they do appear smaller my car is lowered 40mm and i used to have 18"s before i fitted these. Honesly i prefer the look of 18" but the ride is alot better/smoother on 17"s

i think 17" look too small, 18" look too big :D

I think 17" wheels fit fine, they don't strike me as being desperately small, they are also more compliant than my 18" I had on before. Although with 18" I don't think I had as much of a gap between the arch and wheel if you're into that sort of thing.

Got a set of 19's so a bit bigger than the 17's i was considering. But happy they should look good  just need to rob a bank for cash for tyres now ha ha
