Hi guys

I love my 3-year old mkvi golf gti (DSG) and have not messed with it since I bought it.  The only thing that bugs me is the sound it generates.  It does sound aggressive when I overtake or when I downshift but other than that it sounds a bit, well, subtle.  I would really love its sound to match its punch.  Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want an evolution- or impreza-like sound but I would like to make it sound a bit more aggressive even at low revs.  Any ideas/recommendations?  Anything I could do by myself without messing with engine/electronics?

BCS are getting great reports.

I have heard this as well, mostly on the MK5. Saw a nice system with satin black exhaust tips from BCS.

Exhaust first surely? At least other people will see that.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

I like the existing exhaust of the gti as is  I was thinking more of a sound generator type of mod in the engine compartment...

Get an ED35 and you get one with it.  On a serious note if you are going to spend money on the car making it sound better you might as well get the benefit an exhaust will give you in a more sporty sound improved look and maybe a few horses too.
Current: GTI Edition 35 Candy White 5dr DSG 19" Glendale, RCD510+DAB, Dynaudio, Storage Pack, Parking Sensors

Gone: Edition 35, GTI Mk6, Edition 30, GTI Mk4, GTI Mk3, GTI Mk2 and my favourite the UR quattro
For those that dont know DSG is an electronically controlled dual-clutch multiple-shaft manual gearbox
