That is a picture of a mk4 knob in a mk3.............
You can buy the knob including gaitor and chrome surround for about £12 on ebay or thereabouts. 
Spot on.
I drilled out and Jubilee clipped a genuine mk4 gearknob in my mk3, the dimples match the 6N Polo steering wheel.
