Gear knob

Just bought a gear knob from eBay and I am just wondering which VW it has come from? It's black and has loads of dents like a golf ball? The neck is a lot thinner compared to my old one?

Soon to be added, FMIC, 3" exhaust, Remap..oh and new turbo :(

I was going by description.... Now I've seen it I can agree with the above, it's from a mk3.
