In their infinite wisdom my local council or the Highways Autjority (I don't know which one is responsible) decided in recent months to relay the A63 out of Leeds on the very outskirts. part of it is single carriageway, part is dual carriageway (the old A1). The problem is they did it with that utterly useless stone laying process after which you get the 20mph "loose chippings" signs.
What's this got to do with my beloved GTi? Weell, the wheel arches and rear hatch are covered in tar spots. Now I have to say I've been quite negligent in washing it over the last 2 or 3 months with all the rubbish weather but thought I'd give it a good wash today and I was gobsmacked how bad it was. It took me ages to get it all off.
Why can't the people responsible realise the loose chipping process is a total waste of money cos it doesn't last (a few months on and it's all wearing off already) and also that it's damaging to cars. I hate to think what the underside is like after I've been driving up ad down it all this time. It's a bloody good job I have a grey one - God knows what the white one I originally wanted would have looked like!!!
Sorry, moan over.
........totally go along with you on this.Total waste of time.

I use the A63 a couple of times a week. Fed up with the b%$£ds that drive like lunatics down the dualed bit and throw stones all over the bonnet. The 20mph signs have just reappeared so that the council don't get sued for hazardous road surface I suppose.
Mk6 GTI Carbon Grey, 2010 Bluetooth and voice fitted, a few VCDS mods still a comfortable family car. Red Scirocco 2011 twin charger stage 1 - enjoyable drive now gone.  White 2016 Polo GTI (roller skate on steroids) replaced with an Indium Grey 2019 7.5 GTI PP.
