Mk3 Golf GTI 8v - Bigger air flow meter??
« on: 01 January 2013, 15:14 »
Hey guys! you all probably think i'm stupid for asking this but:

Is there any air flow meters that will fit my MK3 golf (like a standard one) with a 3-pin connector (positive, negative, and signal i believe?) but that is capable of reading more air!

The problem i have with mine is it is supercharged, so obviously a lot more air is traveling through the meter than a standard car can move, so the car cannot tell the injectors to put in enough fuel. So at the minute there is a nice big rich spot in the middle of the map, to stop it from leaning out too much.

Also, once I can flow more air, I can exhaust more, allowing me to fit a longer cam, head work etc..

Cheers! and happy new year! :)

Are you still running standard management, if so you need to look at sorting that.

Nope, it is running on a custom ECU map to suit the car, and was set up on a dyno!

if running custom ecu  can't you just run in speed density and bin the AFM off

there will be MAFs that'll do what you need but no one really looks at tuneing them much so not much info about tbh
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

In that case maybe look at a VR6 or 1.8t (225) which are 3" and you will need to sort the wiring.
