Any last of line R discounts?
« on: 30 December 2012, 15:22 »
Happy New Year all!

It's normally me thinking about getting a new car but this time it's for a workmate of mine!
A guy I work with has just test driven the local dealer's demo ED35 and quite liked it but they won't cut him much of a deal so he's having a look round to see what's what; has anyone found any deals on brand new in stock ED35s or better still Golf R's?
He's not fussed whether it's DSG or Manual.
He's driven my 'standard' GTI and the dealer's demo cars plus GTD and isn't willing to wait for the mk7 GTI.

EVO mag this month said any VW with an R badge are one of the lowest depreciating cars you can buy

golf r was 5th and scirocco r was 3rd i think, worth about 73% of cost when new after 3 years apparently

I might stick an R badge on the back of my GTI then and see if that helps it depreciate less!!

Was just wondering if VW were knocking out the last of an overpriced slow selling car with a decent discount like they did with the R32. They guy who's looking said all of the nearly new ones the salesman in our local dealer came up with on their group stock were all £32k plus still so I think he's decided to look for a new one. He's never had a VW so I reckon he'll go elsewhere in the end.

I passed his number onto him last week but it's the same dealer group as my local dealer...

Regardless of which dealer group it is the invoice discount will be the same? I think it was around 12% on a gti but about 8% on an R? Try brokers4cars as they show what discount they can secure using their own manufacturer terms.

Before you give him any details of a car that's just about to date.... Give him the details of the cheaper 32 horse power 3.0 twin turbo BMW M135i....

I'd be tempted to wait and see what reviews the mk7 GTI gets.
