Frankfurt TÜV SÜD regulations

Hi everybody, I've been offered a job in Frankfurt and wanted to see if my Golf is able to visit the city centre (I would guess not). It's a 1996 1.9D L. Here is the link below, I think I know the answer to this but a second opinion would be great. Thanks

That would be a no, it clearly states that diseasels registered before 1st January 1997 are not eligible for a sticker of any colour.

Thought that was the case. My comprehension is hardly up to scratch today due to sleep deprivation and flu. 

Also, I've heard about conversions which can be retrofitted to make my car compliant. If anyone has any info, that will be great.
