i have the 1.6 drive solid disc's would i be right in saying that i would be able to fit the vented disc's and pads without changing the capliers

I seem to remember doing this to 1.6 driver using gti vented discs and pads the callipers were fine although dont think the brakes were that much better

yeah straight swap, you have to do discs and pads at the same time as the pads on the gti model are thinner to fit the wider discs. get something like zimmerman crossdrilled and pagid pads from german and swedish. good parts pretty cheap!
