GOLF MK4 1.9 TDI (AGR) Engine is noisy from cold start up

As above, When engine is stone cold, the engine makes a tick,tick,tick noise for the first 10 -15 seconds, then it gets quiet. Is this normal??

it is on the 1.8t, its the SAI. Nothing to worry about, im assuming its the same on the 1.9tdi

Secondary Air Intake, its used to warm up the CAT on cold starts, again its just a guess, as i dont know if 1.9TDI's have them.

check your oil level maybe low or want a oil and filter change. i reckon its something to do with the tappets being dry for a bit but once the oils flowing they take up the adjustment
so new oil and filter, if no joy renew the tappets

yeah I'll change oil and oil filter, if not joy I'll sell the damn thing

or just live with it. i know what you mean about selling it, the turbo let go on mine, on christmas eve! sorley tempted to replace it n get rid. but that would mean driving a micra full time. no thanks lol
