Private plate question

Quick question.

I have bought a private plate and have the certificate.

It says to post it to your local DVLA office with the MOT and V5 then they will send you a new V5, MOT and Tax Disc.

Question is, if i go direct to the office, will they do it there and then so i can put the plate on straight away?

nope  not anymore

but they will check everything is in order and it gets processed a bit quicker 

just check they arent on strike the day you plan to go.  as loads of offices are faced with closure soon

Okey doke. I will take a look before i go as its a bit of a trek.

I was hoping that they didn't advertise they can do it on the spot to save them some work.

Do you have to put it on the day you receive the paperwork back? Or is there some leeway on both number plates?

Never gets that complicated!

Luckily my insurance is up in about 2-3 weeks. So if it all goes right i could combine the two! Once i haggle somebody down to a reasonable sum for insurance.

ugggh admin fee aka money for absolutly nothing!   in my experince going to the office always seems to get done quicker.

Last time i did it i took all the info to the local office and they gave me a form which i  then took to halfords so they could make up the plates on the same day.(mind you that was about 10 years ago).
