alarm has mind of its own!
« on: 26 December 2012, 15:06 »
I've got a thatcham 1 alarm on my mk3 with plug imobiliser, with the batery doesn't work. Now wen nedd to start the car the imobiliser needs to be removed and reinserted, then dash will light up. That's fine, when I lock the doors with key central locking will work two doors but not boot, the motor makes a noise at the boot but doesn't lock(and key doesn't fit boot either) but from locking doors for maybe 3\4. Seconds the hazard lights flash!! Don't understand why! And first time I been to car for few days today I opened boot and hazards flash for same time but no noise from alarm!! Do I need an auto spark to look at this?

yes, get a auto-sparky to remove it. Removed both of mine (had two aftermarket ones fitted), best thing I've done.
You only ever need two tools in life. If it moves and it shouldn't use Duct Tape. If it does not move and it should, use WD40.

Having them removed was best thing uv ever done? It makes insurance cheaper having it in wether it works or not haha! The imobiliser works but alarm is all flash and no noise, will get a sparky onto it though :)

Yes - my insurance only took acount of the factory (ECU) immob so other two just got in the way.  Also it runs better without two more sets of relays between battery and engine.  The toad one (with a fob) was just silly, and the con-log one was just annoying.
