if i go fully comp can i drive other cars ?
« on: 25 December 2012, 00:09 »
on the renewal hunt at the moment and found on compare the market that fully comp is £1 more than fire and theft , which considering it includes windscreen cover and a few other things the £1 is worth it .
its not the end of the world if not but if i take the policy would i be able to driver other peoples cars on fuly comp or is there a few clauses specific to different companys ?

i have had my licence 3years , 21 next month .

it does'nt state it on the website suposse i would need to ring them but they will be shut for a few days and i would rather buy it online now and be done with the hassle . but like i said im not to bothered about it just wondering.

gocompare wanted £1660 ! bit high i was thinking and i had a claim against me this year
same details on compare the market with my claim £726

Its different now, please do not assume that if you have fully comp insurance that you can drive other vehicles on a 3rd party basis.
You need to check with your insurer, as they are now starting to phase this out !

Try HIC mate. I've been hunting around for insurance this month too, and being 22 with 5 years NCB I thought I'd get a decent deal.

Best was Sky (my current insurer) at £640, but HIC quoted me £660 and it includes driving other cars third party, which is something that normally you do have to be over 25 to have available. The only thing is HIC don't include windscreen cover, which is something Sky do.

When I call back beginning of Jan I'm going to try and blag the windscreen cover on the policy, but I'll be going to HIC anyway, as their monthly instalments actually work out cheaper than Sky's ones at the end of the year, and it's only 9 instalments rather than 10

My current insurer (brentacre) didnt give me this option, even on renewal last september.

But when adrian flux beat my renewal... brentacre then beat them & gave me a better deal and put me on the drive other cars list. And im only TPFT aswell.

Although its only cars... no vans or pickups.

Driving other cars isnt usually based on the cover you have but more your age. Its normally only available to drivers aged 25 or over (some insurers exclude it also if you work in the motor trade).

With us its available on all covers (comp, TPF+T and TPO cover) providing you meet minimum requirements above.

A lot of people think you have to be fully comp to get the cover but that is not always the case.

There are some insurers who give it to drivers aged 21+ but not many.

Best Regards

Hi,

we have a variety of payment options available, it may be an idea to get in touch to discuss.

Thanks
