Quick conversion question- from 8v to 16v

Want to keep my colour concept shell but fancy some more go go. Tight budget, so was just wondering what parts I would need cheers

Do a search and look for posts from murraymint he did a detailed list of parts needed for a 1.6 to 16v conversion, frim what little i know i think you will need to do the same amount of work as in his list

Nightmare searching trying to find stuff, heard its not as much due to it being already Gti 8v

Here's the thread buggers is talking about if you couldn't find it. I did buy a 16v for the conversion, but ended up doing that up instead  :grin:

Since its crimbo  :wink:
The engine, loom, ecu and exhaust would be all you 'really' need.
You can use your 8v flywheel, clutch and gearbox set up, the gearing will actually make it a little quicker off the mark too.
However, the 8v 020 boxes aren't that great with the lowly 115bhp getting put through them, never mind the 150bhp from the valver but in my opinion i think it should be ok.

My 2L 8v has the 1.8 gearbox on and it makes good difference.

If you going to do it then fit a VR6 :smiley:
