hi all,
probably a very simple stupid question to all of you but one of my belts keeps squealing when its wet. its so annoying, is this just something that happens or does something need adjusting?
thanks.
ps. its a mk3 cabrio 2.0

Is the undercarriage splash guard which protects the belts from getting wet missing from your car. How do your belts look? Dry and cracked or frayed - or fine?

Slight tightening would help. Also clean the pulley running surfaces

The belt has probably stretched a bit seeing as it's not that old making it loose. Adjust it up and it should be better although they do have a tendency to slip quite easily when water goes anywhere near them.
The splashguards are ok but not the ultimate answer. The 16v and TDI full under engine trays work more effectively.
