Booked it in at my local garage tomorrow to be fixed as I went out today and the two front door locks went completely on me, would not shut at all.

In the end had to use cable ties going through the back windows in to the front, keeping the door secure, just so I could drive the short distance home.

Was speaking to my mate who works for the RAC and he was saying that he has been called out to a number of VW cars, Golfs, Polos ect where the car door locks have broke. More than the other car makes.

Pain in the ass, will set me back £200 or so

This is actually a very easy fix if you can get hold of a new module. £120odd quid retail for a new central locking module, so get one from a broken car. Biggest key is not to panic about taking bits and bobs off, and having a second pair of hands to hold the window.

I've yet to take my broken one apart to find out the problem, it seems like a spring has gone in the mechanism. On a fresh module, the latch should spring'flick back when the handle is pulled. On my broken one the latch doesn't move and was extremely stiff.

The garage have said it will cost £105 for each new lock module but he said I could get them cheaper on Ebay

I would go to the scrapyard but have no way of getting to one now.

Do anyone know what locks exactly I need? As he said the front locks will be different. I need two for the front, passenger and drivers side and one for the passengers offside as well

Found this, but not sure if it will fit mine or not,

All done now and ordered, spoke to ebay seller on the phone and just ordered 3 new locks for a total of £130 including delivery and if they don't fit for any reason, I get a full refund.

So happy with that deal.

Not so happy that 3 of my locks all failed in the space of a couple of weeks.

Brought them of this guy ;

That is the link to page where I got the locks from. You can email him to discuss what locks you need and if he has them in stock. Gave me some money of delivery to for ordering 3 locks in one go.

Would of cost £320 for 3 locks from the garage so to get 3 for £130 , works out well

Before you try fitting them, just try the action of the lock. Move the latch so it locks locks in place, it should spring back when you pull the mechanism. Your locks will have failed months and months ago, after breaking it'll have been a slow death until the mechanism jams up altogether. Just unlucky that they all went at the same time.

Just a couple of points to note:
Get an M8 spline bit. An allen key will fit but it's likely to round the door module bolts.
The outer door handle will be loose when reconnecting the cable, it will get pulled into place when you tighten up the barrel bolt.
