Engine oil
« on: 21 December 2012, 12:32 »
Hello.

love the hats  hate christmas

ive looked and found all sorts of stuff on the subject, why not ask the owners eh, what do you use?

Dont know what they put in it when it was serviced (previous owner, ive only had for a couple of months) thought it best to get myself some oil. going to get castrol edge 5w30 (vw spec, not ford, dont worry, think its 503 or something) basicly after some reassurance, this is the right stuff yeh? and also even if they've put something else in im not going to kill the engine or anything am I?

502 / 505 VW approved. Acea A3/B4...

You can use 5w30 or 0w40, dependent on your oil change intervals. Mobil One 0w40 'new life' is the best oil I've found and providing you change every 6/8k is about the best your engine can get....

I've used Mobil 1 5W 30 ESP since I've had the car from virtually new and I moved to fixed interval servicing at 50k miles. I usually buy 5 litres when it's on offer in Halfords for top ups.
