Koni VS Vmaxx
« on: 18 December 2012, 11:50 »
Will be having 18" 3sdm 0.05 8.5 all et45 - would like 9.5 rears but people say problems will occur and ideally like 19" but again problems plus they dont looks that nice ie too much alloy and look to big for car?
Anyway which is the better coilovers? Havent got masses of money but just want the car lowered a little bit more than it currently is (GTD) unless bigger wheels less of a gap between wheel and arch?
If you cant find it......Grind it

Anyway which is the better coilovers?

You are at opposite ends of the scale with those two, Koni up there with KW Variant 2s and Bilstein, with Vmaxx right down art the bottom along with Hottuning and the ebay £200 specials.

I'm sure the Vmaxx will be ideal if you want to completely bugger up the ride and handling of a new car but get it sitting silly low.
But if you want to use it daily and have it low but usable, I'd say the Konis are the better bet.

But there are many options in between.

Reducing my Golf count by the week....
..but gaining motorcycles.

its a strange comparison to make- koni coilovers are about £700 and have a reputation for quality and performance for years and vmax are about £200 on ebay etc and have a reputation for being fitted on 1.2 corsa merits.

obviously the koni ones will be better in every way, plus you get a warranty worth something them, they will have been tested and developed to some extent on the car and if you come to need spare or replacement parts etc they will be easier to get hold of.

dont know why someone would put cheap coilovers on a £20k car.

im pretty sure the koni coil overs are the same as the KW's - the instruction manual is identical anyway and they look the same only silver and red instead of yellow and pink.

V-maxx are a step above the budget crap on ebay, not to be confused with the prosports and hottuning types, but certainly not as good as Koni. I've never had an issue with either brand when it comes to warranty claims.
