Why Hunting???
« on: 08 October 2003, 14:27 »
Hi all,

Need some help. My Mk1 is running very unevenly, its hunting something cronic when cold, so much so that the dash is shaking loose. On start up it sits at 1000rpm then drops to about 4-500 on tickover. Gets better when warm but still very lumpy accelarating unless you floor it.. which I usually do. It nearly stalled today at lunch at the traffic lights. Any ideas, suggestions, things to check etc....cheers

Basically check every pipe beween the air filter and inlet manifold and all the pipes coming from the inlet manifold......in fact any pipe that isn't part of the cooling system.
Try bending them to see if any are split you may be suprised what you'll find, although you haven't long taken delivery of this engine from TSR have you?

Right, looked to vacuum leaks to no avail, tried upping the idle a little and that doesnt help.

I have also noticed when you rev the engine and come of the gas to drops right down to almost 0 revs and then seems to recover. Maybe airflow meter???? help!!!!!

Check your HT leads, if one is on its way out it could give you these symptoms
