scrapping my golf when it's sat on it's arse?
« on: 16 December 2012, 12:36 »
hey all. i'm gonna send poor old becks to the scrapheap in the sky next week (breaking up atm). my only question is this, i'm keeping the wheels and coilovers so it's gonna be sat on it's arse and i won't be able to tow it to the scrappy. any suggestions how i can scrap her? i'm guessing if a crane comes and puts her onto a flatbed i won't get any scrap money?

cheers

Its got to roll if want money from Johnny Scrapman and you don't know him.
Just swap it over onto some old shocks, you do have some old shocks don't you? Or is this your first "want to keep my coil overs" moment

hmm I may do this, what does it legally need to hav on it to be towed tho? at the mo it's got no front end, rear bumper or any lights (or number plates)

can't really advise what it legally needs to be towed, guessing number plate, lights etc if it is with wheels on road... on a trailer of course wouldn't matter.

I was once scrapped a honda civic and it had coilovers & alloys on, which i was going to keep, so the way i done it was.

I put the car on a ramp and un-tigthtend the alloys & coilovers nuts/bolts, then winched the car on back of recovery truck, jacked up with trolly jack and removed the wheels, then put planks of wood so the car resting on the woods, then took out coilovers and tied the car down. Job Done.

But the reovery truck was my own.

nice having your own truck! ok now it's got no interior, no rear wheels or suspension, no windows or sunroof, no lights or bumpers and 1/4 of the engine had come out. think i'll get em to collect.. my bro is breaking a mk2 polo but he's cutting the whole thing up with a disc cutter and taking to the scrappy in a van.. mission
