Ht leads and Distributor change
« on: 09 December 2012, 15:00 »
So ive done the plugs but now ive got new ht leads and a new distributor to fit. How do i remove the dissy end of the ht leads? And then how do i remove the distributor itself and fit new ones? Obviously ill mark which leads go where but ive never done this before. Hopefully itll be as easy as the air and cabin filter i did saturday

ht leads just pop off.
with the distributor cap you have 2 tabs to push off then it pulls off.
advise: do 1 HT lead at a time so you dont get stuck with leads in wrong order

I've got a sneaking suspicion he is talking about the entire distributor itself, not just the cap.
If so, turn the engine to TDC, the Rotor arm and line in the distributor will be lined up/should be lined up, when you put the new distributor in, be sure to line it up the same as the previous one was.

True that, Tweed has a point, pictures save you nightmares, just take pictures from all different angles of the things you're touching and you can never go wrong.
