Gearbox or clutch?
« on: 06 December 2012, 15:14 »
Today on a few hours of driving the car popped out of 5th twice! Its never had the best feeling gear change, doesnt fill you with confidence. I often find myself searching around for a gear. Its not terrible but foes affect driving confidence as i say. So the scary question is gearbox or clutch? What do you thinks buggered? Is it salvageable or am i looking at hundreds of pounds that i dont have

Thats the synchro on 5th gear.
So definitely gearbox.
Find a breakers and get a secondhand gearbox is the cheapest way, unless you know a guy that is extremely good with gearboxes!

And your in Swindon, whats your point and why name me, this guy is looking for a garage to do the work, how do you think I will be able to help.

You may think your funny but why not start acting your age.

Whilst I am willing to help any member in anyway that I can and that includes small jobs, this is not a job I would tackle this time of year with the weather at the moment.

Of course I can recommend local garages but Bath is 44 miles from here so I do not see that it would gain anything, your closer maybe you could name a good local garage.
