I used them once and in fact did a good job, but I would never used them again!

If you cant do this yourself then find a small independant garage.

Could possibly be the push rod seal?
I bought my car with a slippy clutch, found out it was just the seal.
Oil gets on the clutch and causes it to slip like mad.
Sounds strange how the gearbox could break whilst its in the garage?
If it got you there, and you have had no previous problems then I'm sure it's ok.
Get the car out and find someone capable of looking, new clutch and seal about £75.
I had a gearbox you could've had for nothing.unfortunatley I've scrapped it. :lipsrsealed:

I'm pretty sure the mk2 box will fit, correct me if I'm wrong but you will need to buy a mk2 clutch also.

Push rod seal and crank seal never get changed by most garages as they don't come in the clutch kit (normally).
As said this will trash the clutch with just a few drops and give you a mega slipy clutch, insist they change the seals and leave the old bits in the boot whoever does it.

Mk2 box has different ratio's but can be fitted, if i can work out how to paste an xl doc to a post i will shove all of the possible boxes up

Thanks for all the responses guys. Currently sat on the train into town to go pick it up before work. I'm going to ask for the box back and any parts they didn't use. Want to see if I can see any signs of tampering or forceful removal. I managed to get hold of a box, clutch and flywheel from someone and got them to install that. I will check of they replaced the old seal for a new one to prevent it happening as soon I drive it again. Will post back up details later tonight hopefully!
Wish me luck
