Just fitted powerflex red dog bone bush
« on: 03 December 2012, 14:14 »
what an easy job! two jacks on the freezing concrete floor. old bolts came out easily.bushes crumbled out!

vice broke, and new bushes still went it fine. torqued up to 12lbft.

minimal, and i do mean minimal vibration on cold tickover. nothing when warm. im confident this will settle down over time too.

there's a uphill junction pulling on to my road where the wheels used to hop. no more even in the rain. much more positive on the gear change under load. no more rocking when pushing the right pedal.

great mod for £21. bolts were less than £5 from TPS.  They had an oil sale so picked up 5L of Platinum and a filter for £20. happy days!

Did you change the round bush on the dog bone mount as well? Uprated engine and gearbox mounts will also help further especially if the car has already piled on a lot of mileage. You will get varying degree of vibration from different engine mounts so it is worth reading some reviews of different engine mounts.

Used 10w40 in mine for over 30k no issues what so ever.
Changed the oil every 3 months regardless of how many miles I travelled.

Car was on 70k and left just a smugde over 100k.

I would always use quantum

On the 1.8t I'm using the platinum 5w40

I wouldn't use anything else. Changed every 5k.

I changed the pick up pipe 1k ago and the block was clean. You'll only get that through regular changes with quality oil. Bloody cold weather combined with 10 minute journey to work is starting to build up mayo in the breathers though.

Ps. Engines used 1/4 litre since that change. Not sure why anyone would use a 10w40 in these engines. Even high milers!

If it makes a difference mine was AGU not AUM.

Same ere btw the changed the pick up pipe on mine and the pipe werent bad at all considering its never had a change from the service history.

Im sure 5w40 is ok for the AUM's, AUQ's but I never had any problems what so ever using 10w40 in AGU

Isnt every 3 months a bit of a waist?
