400 BHP+...and it's still using standard head bolts?
Hmm...
They must be stronger than I thought.

Tbf even if its 'only'  kicking out a solid and reliable 350bhp its still going to be a hell of an engine and a shed load cheaper than trying to acheive anything near it with a n/a ABF lump.

Going to take a lot of time and money to get it in and working by the time you factor in managment set up etc.

To the uninitiated this engine will go bang very quickly.
This will need setting up by a pro and not a weekender like most of us are

If you can afford 4.5k on an engine then im pretty sure you'll have another wedge set aside for installation and configuration. You'd be a prick not to.

I think it looks great
Also think the head bolts will be just fine

I know On the 1.8t lumps the headbolts are never a issue. Infact the only reason folk use apr is because you can re use them if you remove the head where as the OEM ones need to be replaced everytine you remove them
It's not a highly stressed bolt anyhow, the most stressed bolt is the conrod fastners. So APR ones are a must.

I'd certainly rather keep my personal set up over this, and I'd personally raster have another well sorted 20vt over It too but this looks a serious bit of kit and I doubt you cod make all that for anywhere Close to 4.5k

To me, it's close to the ultimate ABF set up
Gearbox let's it down IMO

Should have gone 02j with a wave track and modified ratios (just my opinion)

02A and 02J are the same inside anyway...so no real advantage in going O2J.

The uprated shift tower can be fitted to the 02A anyway...so the casing code is irrelevant.

The case is also different slightly, cosmetic l know but still look better

Iv had both side by side

Ratios will be different too. Mine are anyhow as Iv had the ratios changed

I'd have at least gone 02j it's a newer box
He does not mention a rebuild of the o2a so I assum it's only had a pelequin fitted and nothing more

At the very worst should have fitted o2j tower yea and then a mk4 shifter

Prob one of best mods I did on mine, a total transformation. Driving a normal mk3 now to me feels like the gearbox is knackerrd lol

Anyhow it's only the gearbox, new owner of this cools change that easy enough
