Fog lights keep melting out :(

Both my fog lights have melted them selfs out the lights what could be causing this ? Recently fitted new bulbs as well have been fine for 2 months .. Lucky enough wos putting air in my tyres when i see it happeing at the garage other wise could have been mesyy :(

Had this problem with runnning uprated bulbs + loom on my rallye front end. The tiny bulbs would just melt the housing.

The fog light bulbs should be 55w. Check those first.

Iirc wasn't here a problem with non OE lamps, rings a bell from some years ago!

Thanks guys will have to buy new fog lights now so will make sure ive got 55w bulbs to go back in :)

Yeh, had the same problem. I thought I would buy some bright fog lights  and went for the highest wattage I could find. They ran ok a for a few days but then one fog light housing melted. I guess oer the few times I had been running them the bulbs had slowly heated up the plastic to the point they wouldn't hold any more and then just collapsed and melted.
Lesson learnt - Stick to correct wattage bulbs.

OE ones were dropped in Feb this year and were £113 anyway - need to look for OE quality at (considerably) less trhan OE price!
