New alloys for the R
« on: 21 November 2012, 17:17 »

Alloys and tyres went on today. I decided to go for gloss black to match the trim on the front rear and wing mirrors of the car.

Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2's - Gloss black - 8"x18" - ET45 - 9kg a corner

Tyres fitted

Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 2's - 235/40/18Y - 95XL

A couple of pics - sorry about the dirty car!

Initial impressions are.....

That the steering is definitely improved - feels quicker and a little lighter
The tyres are quieter
The deeper sidewall gives an improved ride quality
The suspension feels quicker to react to undulations and doesn't crash quite as much as before

All in all a successful mod.

I had the optional 19" Talladega's on and they are just over 14kg a corner. Heavy ass alloys IMO and shouldn't really be on a performance Car. VW should know better!

Once I've committed to what I want it will be on coilies, but not much lower. Probably 10-15mm max.
